Words of Comfort

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

1. Jesus. 1 Cor 15:12-18

2. Those who have fallen asleep in Jesus are with Jesus. Ps. 8:3-6, Ecl 12:7, Phil 1:21

3. We will be reunited with those who are asleep in Jesus. 1 Corr 15:54

4. We will meet Jesus in the air. Mk 13:32

5. We shall always be with Jesus.

Concerning Brotherly Love

1 Thessalonians 4:9-12

1. You yourselves are taught by God to love one another. Eph 5:1

2. We need to be urged to increase more and more. Ps 103:11-12

3. Practically speaking, here are a few ways to do that:
a. Aspire to lead a quiet life=Promote Jesus, not yourself.
b. Mind your own business=Don't be a busybody. I Tim 5:13
c. Work with your own hands=Don't be a user.
d. Walk properly to those outside=Don't ruin evangelism for others.

Sexual Immorality

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8

1. It is God's will that we should abstain from sexual immorality.
Ps. 40:8, 1 Cor 6:9-13, Heb 13:4, Matt 19:4 and 5:27

2. We should know how to possess our own vessel in purity and honor.
Heb 11:24

3. If we reject this truth, we also reject God.
Mk 7:20

Urge and Exhort

1 Thessalonians 4:1-2

I. What is an exhortation? Heb 10:24-25, 3:12-13

II. What does a Godly exhortation look like?
1. Exhortations must be done in the love of the Lord.
2. The intention of an exhortation should be to cause the person to abound in the Lord.
3. Effective exhortations are backed up with a Godly example.
4. Exhortations must be rooted in the word of God.
